If you want to keep your support, and your garden, withdrawn
from Monsanto and GMO seeds, here’s a few things you might want to be aware of:
Purchase your seeds in places that have not been clandestinely purchased by Monsanto.
Avoid buying from seed companies affiliated with Monsanto. Here’s a list of these companies: http://www.seminis.com/glo
Consider buying from this list of companies which Monsanto has not bought: http://www.occupymonsanto360.org/2012/03/06/monsanto-free-seed-companies/
Not only has Monsanto purchased seed companies, they’ve also purchased the names of certain heirloom seeds. Here’s a list of seeds to avoid because they fall under this Machiavellian category: : http://www.occupymonsanto360.o
And finally, support companies that have taken the Safe Seed Pledge: http://www.councilforresponsib
There’s no reason why your spring and summer garden can’t be GMO and Monsanto-free–just make sure you know who you’re buying from.
